The effective treatment of spine-related issues is often a team approach. At times this requires the assistance of pain management doctors, rehabilitation doctors or physiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, internists, etc. Over the last two decades, we have developed a referral base of the top healthcare professionals in the area. Some of those professionals may or may not be a participating provider in a patient’s healthcare plan. It has become increasingly more difficult to track and many healthcare professionals are constantly changing plans. It is therefore important for all patients to confirm whether a referral to an outside healthcare professional is associated with a participating provider. Referrals to out-of-network healthcare professionals might generate additional costs to the patient.
Drs. Daveed D. Frazier and Alexandra Carrer frequently work as a team when performing surgery. This helps to make the surgery more efficient and oftentimes safer for patients. If you undergo surgery, your insurance company or payer will therefore receive an assistant or co-surgeon bill associated with the second surgeon. One or more of the surgeons may or may not be in-network with the patient’s insurance plan. Please refer to the following section.
Drs. Daveed D. Frazier and Alexandra Carrer participate in many, but not all, insurance plans. We are providing you notice of this fact, and this will be reiterated upon scheduling and when checking in by the staff. However, the patient should confirm whether the doctors are in or out-of-network with their plans. If the physicians are out-of-network, they have not agreed to a set fee schedule as dictated by a particular insurance plan and may charge more. Patients are required to understand what their health care plan cover if they obtain services from an out-of-network physician. Some plans don’t cover these services at all or may require higher co-pays, deductibles or co-insurance with out-of-network care. We will work diligently with all patients, regardless of their insurance plans or economic situation, to help them to obtain the best possible care.
Drs. Daveed D. Frazier and Alexandra Carrer specialize in minimally invasive spine surgery. The many benefits of these less invasive procedures include, but aren’t limited to, less pain, less blood loss, less post-op scar tissue, faster recovery, less tissue damage and shorter or no need for inpatient hospital stays. Many of their procedures don’t require hospital stays and can be performed in an outpatient surgery center setting where the patient goes home after a few hours. Dr. Frazier has ownership interest in several of the surgery centers in which he operates.
